Water Found On Planet HD 209458b

You may have never heard of Planet HD 209458b but it has become incredibly important to science.

According to Neatorama, water, in the form of vapor, has been detected in the Planet’s atmosphere and it’s the first time any water has been discovered outside of our solar system.

This could help us discover if life does exist outside of Earth!

However, Yahoo News quotes astronomer Travis Barman as saying, “A Jupiter-like gaseous planet such as this one, as opposed to a rocky one like Earth, is highly unlikely to harbor life.  The finding about water vapor in its atmosphere does not answer one way or another questions about the existence of extraterrestrial life.”

Fact: Planet HD 209458b is located in the constellation Pegasus, which is 150 light years from Earth.
